Niels Viggo Bentzon & The Contemporary Jazz Quartet ‎– Third Stream Music (1965)

I would like to alert our followers.
There a Kickstarter campaign about reissueing this elusive LP.
The Contemporary Jazz Quintet should be famous enough for their collaboration with Sunny Murray on the album "Action". (available on CD through SteepleChase).

I've joined the party some minutes ago...about 1800 DKK are missing for a start.

Here's the link to the website:

Obviously there will be no cd or download edition. Many independent labels choose this way but I'm really not sure that it is a good idea to concentrate only on one sort of support.

I agree with you, correct silence.

But I'm glad they will do a reissue after all. Better a re-release on vinyl only than a overpriced second-hand platter....and the payment will be done only after the project is on its way.

Obviously they always release a digital version of the lp they make, I have found their bandcamp store

Let's hope they will go on this way for this fantastic project....

Very interesting. Niels Viggo Bentzon was an excellent modern composer and crazy prolific (i.e. over 650 opus numbers). Compared with other Danes like Holmboe and Norgard, huge swathes of his music have yet to see the light of day in the classical world.

For those who don't have no more turn table or who can't wait for the lp reissue, this album is available at Itunes and Amazon for download. It is an mp3 version but the sound is really good. It have been taken from an lp because the master tapes have been lost. Centrifuga will release it on lp next year but they won't provide it on digital version so this one is and will be the only one available. I have only partially heard this music before but listening to this download version I can say that the music is incredible, absolutely great. The meeting between free jazz and contemporary music is superbe and Bentzon appears to have understood perfectly both music to create a great mix of both. So lp or download... don't miss it.
